Our History

Bible World Church began as The First United Pentecostal Church of Chesapeake in 1961. The church has been blessed with great leadership and a revival spirit since it’s beginning.

Reverend Roy R. Hall was the founding pastor. He served as pastor until 1970 when he resigned due to Mrs. Hall’s failing health. The present property on Happy Acres Road in Chesapeake was purchased during Pastor Roy Hall’s tenure.

On January 16, 1971, Reverend Robert and Mrs. Ida Hall assumed the pastorate of the church. During their tenure the church built a beautiful sanctuary and family life center. The church grew to an average attendance of 264 under Pastor Robert Hall’s leadership. In April of 2004 Robert and Ida Hall retired.

May 1, 2004 Pastor and Mrs. Jack Cunningham assumed the pastorate of Bible World Church. The church has enjoyed significant growth under the leadership of Pastor Cunningham, from an average Sunday morning attendance of 264 (in April 2004) to over 600 (in July of 2009). Literally hundreds have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit during his tenure. Pastor Cunningham is presently leading the church in building a new state-of-the-art 1500 seat sanctuary.

Bible World Church currently has approximately 650 constituents and 220 family units and is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International, which has a worldwide constituency of more than 4 million in over 32,000 congregations in 181 countries.
